SysMLv2 Editor
for Visual Studio Code
Change Vision has released the SysMLv2 Editor, a dedicated modeling editor compliant with the SysML v2 textual syntax. This tool was developed as part of our internal research and implementation efforts around SysML v2 and is provided as a separate offering from the Astah product series.
If you’re using a licensed version of Astah SysML or System Safety, you can start using this editor today.

What is the SysMLv2 Editor?
The SysMLv2 Editor is a lightweight extension for Visual Studio Code that allows you to author models using the SysML v2 textual syntax.
It includes essential modeling support features such as:
- Syntax highlighting
- Real-time detection of syntax and spelling errors
- Jump to definitions and reference navigation
- Outline view for structural overview
- Automatic diagram generation
Note: This editor is not data-compatible with Astah products.

Who Can Use the SysML v2 Editor?
You can use the SysMLv2 Editor with any of the following valid licenses:
- Astah SysML Individual License or Floating License
- Astah System Safety Individual License or Floating License
- Astah Faculty Site License
Even if you don’t currently have a license, you can try the editor for free for 20 days.
How to Use the SysMLv2 Editor
- Ensure that a valid license is activated in Astah SysML or Astah System Safety.
- Install SysMLv2 Editor from the Visual Studio Code marketplace.
- Open a working folder or workspace:
File > Open Folder…
File > Open Workspace from File…
Or create a new one as needed. - Create a .sysml file and start modeling.
