Error: "Cannot move an Execution Specification to its target"

1
replies

I keep running across a frustrating and annoying error when trying to edit sequence diagrams.

Supposing I have sequence diagram like this:

Image Text

And I want it to look like this, with Message2 starting from the execution specification resulting from Message1.

Image Text

I try to drag the beginning of Message2 to the execution specification above it on Lifeline2, and I get the following error message: "Cannot move an Execution Specification to its target."

Image Text

As far as I know, this is a perfectly valid thing to do, and this use-case occurs regularly when modifying/editing sequence diagrams. It makes it very difficult to modify large sequence diagrams as it forces either deleting and recreating messages, or moving portions of execution to a "dummy" lifeline temporarily.

So my question is: Is there a reason for this error? If not, can it be removed for this use-case?

Wrap text and resize blocks

1
replies

Is it possible for Block names to wrap so they can be resized? The block width on the diagram is fixed to the width needed to show the Block name on one line. I would like the blocks to be resized to a narrower width, but to do this the Block name needs to adjust to multi-line.

Can't add return message

I'm trying to add a return message to one of my calls and it keeps giving me the error message: "Invalid message. Please add message to lifeline." This is confusing to me because there IS a message there on the lifeline.

I was working on a project and when I tried to save it, astah crashed. I have a fresh installation of astah, it was my first ever project. I searched if other people experienced the same issue, and I found a solution to their crash, you had to commentate a line out of the ini file: astah-com.l4j.ini (Before) -Dsun.java2d.d3d=false (After) #-Dsun.java2d.d3d=false

But this didn't work for me. I hope i'm able to fix this.

Astah drawing bug

2
replies

I just installed Astah Professional to my Arch Linux computer. About a year ago I used version 7.0.0 to create a model for an assignment without any flaws. However, with both versions 7.0.0 and 7.1.0 (and both Oracle JDK 8b121 and OpenJDK 8b121) I now get a drawing bug.

When opening the .asta file I used last year (or trying to create a new model), whenever I open a class diagram everything gets repeated every 100x100 pixels or so. When using the scrollbars every such box scrolls independently, creating this weird output. When opening the menus and hovering over them the disappeared part gets drawn correctly, until I hover with the mouse over the model window, when everything gets redrawn incorrectly again. Only when minimizing the class diagram window and reopening it again, the output looks correctly, until I move my mouse over the window and the wrong output shows up again.

Has anyone experienced this before?

I am learning the basics of using communication diagrams and I struggle to understand how to change the direction of my messages-arrows? I create a link between to lifelines but the no matter how i initiate the link the message direction is the same.

How to change the source and target of a message in a communication diagram?

Thanks!

Write the C++ function body?

I want to model the following very simple class:

class Foo {
  public:
    void bar() {
      std::cout << "Hello World!" << std::endl; // where to put this in Astah?
    }
}

My question is the line with the comment - where do I put this line in Astah such that it gets used for code generation?

Hallo, I just installed AstahShare on a debian jessie x64 machine. Everything seems up and running.

But if I try to login the first time I receive the following message: "Error was occurred class:com.change_vision.webpf.control.commands::LoginCommand type:fault code:Server.Processing string:java.io.IOException: invalid constant type: 18"

Free license is in %astahshare%/data/ Java version is "1.8.0_121". Tomcat is the one included. AstahShare version is Version 2.8(Support Period:2015/02/28)

What can I do to solve this?

Return to existing lifeline.

1
replies

I am trying to model a call where a synchronous call is made to a server which is handled in a single thread with a mailbox. It fires an asynchronous call off, and eventually receives another asynchronous message with the response, then the synchronous call returns. I'm not sure if this is possible to model directly, an asynchronous message to an existing life line. Showing the mail box as a discrete actor is not an appropriate detail.

sharing model elements between projects

I would like to share model elements (packages, blocks, diagrams, etc.) between projects in Astah SysML. I've tried drag & drop and that doesn't work. Is there a copy/paste or import/export function that I'm not seeing?

Astah Community/Professional and Mac OS Sierra

1
replies

Recently, I updated the operational system of my computer (a Mac Book Pro) to MacOS Sierra and, since then, Astah Community have presented several problems (e.g., it is not possible to access functionalities by using the right button of the mouse, it is not possible visualize diagrams by clicking twice on them, among others). Is there any incompatibility between Astah Community (version 7.1.0/f2c212) and MacOS Sierra? I also tried to use Astah Professional (version 7.1.0/f2c212), but the problems remained. Could someone help me, please? Thanks in advance.

Template Parameter as return type of a method

1
replies

Hi,

I am using Astah Professional 7.1.

Is possible to use the template parameter of a class as the return type of a method inside that class?

For example:

class MyClass<T>
{
    public T MyMethod()
    {
    //...
    }
}

Do I need to create a type "T" in order to use "T" as the return type or is it possible to use the "template parameter defined for MyClass?
