Search
You can search for models and diagrams in a project, or within a specific diagram. Use search to get quickly to specific models, to replace strings, and to find unneeded models when you clean up a project.
Search in the project
In the Project View (top-left pane), choose the [Search] tab.
Replace
- Go to the Project View (the top-left pane in Astah).
- Choose the [Search] tab.
- Enter a keyword and click [Search].
- Enter the replacement string, then click [Replace].
Jump to diagram
From a search result, you can jump directly to a diagram where the selected model appears.
- Right-click an item in the search results.
- Choose [All Related Diagrams] from the context menu.
- A list of the diagrams where the model appears is shown.
- Click one of the diagrams in the list. The diagram opens with the model in focus.
Jump to the tree view
From the search results, you can jump to the selected model in the Structure Tree.
- Right-click an item in the search results.
- Choose [Show in Structure Tree].
- A list appears with the model itself and related models, such as models that use it as their type.
- Click an item in the list. The Structure Tree opens at that model.
Find undrawn models
In the [Search] pane, you can find models that are not on any diagram, or models that have no relationships. This is useful when you clean up a project.
Find broken hyperlinks
Models in Astah can have hyperlinks to external files (such as .doc or .txt), URLs and other models in the project. In the [Search] pane, you can find broken hyperlinks, for example ones whose target file or model no longer exists.
Filter
You can also find models by using the filter field in the Structure Tree. For details, see Structure Tree.
Note: This feature is not available in Astah System Safety.
Search in Diagram
Press [Ctrl/Cmd+F] or go to [Edit] – [Search on Diagram] to open the search bar.
Models that contain the keyword are highlighted.
Search Option
Click the gear icon to open the search options.
