XMI Export

Add [XMI Export] menu in Astah to export model information of Class diagrams to XMI in UML 2.4.1 or CMOF 2.4.1.

How to Install

  1. Download the Plug-in file.
  2. After the download is complete, drag the downloaded .jar file to an open instance of Astah. A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm installation choose [Yes].
  3. Restart Astah.
  4. If you see the [Export XMI] option under [Tools], that means your installation is complete!
    (In some cases, [UML] and [CMOF] menu would be added under [Plug-ins].)

How to Use

  1. Open a file and go to [Tools] – [Export XMI] and select [UML] or [CMOF]. (Or [UML] or [CMOF] directly under [Plug-ins].
  2. Choose a location for the XMI file to be exported to and then select [Save].

Restrictions

Exportable Models
  • Packages, Subsystem (Subsystems will be exported as Packages), Classes, Interfaces, Attributes, Operations, Association Classes, Notes which are connected with models, Associations, Dependencies, Generalizations, Realizations and Usages will be exported.
  • Stereotypes and Qualifiers will not be exported.
CMOF
  • When exporting in CMOF format, the following models would be converted to comply with the constraints of CMOF 2.4.1’s.
    • Visibilities of properties would be public
    • “Aggregate” Association End’s would be Composite (Shared)
