State Transition Path
State Transition Paths serve to monitor and predict the actual behavior patterns of the software that you are modeling. Use Transition Paths as test cases to assure they correctly reflect the software’s true behavior.
How to Install
- Download the Plug-in file. If you are using the old version of Astah or Astah System Safety, please download one that works for your Astah version.
- Drag the downloaded .jar file to an open instance of Astah. A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm installation choose [Yes]. Restart Astah.
- If you see [State Transition Path] window below the diagram editor, the installation is complete!
If there is no window below the diagram editor, go to [View] – [Show/Hide Extra View] to open.
How to use
When you open a statemachine diagram, the table will open automatically. When you click a transition line on the diagram, the related models would be highlighted, so that you can easily spot where the transition is.
Sort by Transition numbers
You can switch the State Transition Path list by the number of transitions.
Export to Excel
To export the State Transition Path to Excel, simply specify the number of transitions, and then click “Export to Excel”.
You can use exported excel as a test case.
Transitions between nested states
In the State transition path, a transition between nested classes would appear as below under its parent state.
NOTE
Currently, State transition paths do not support the following models.
- Shallow History Pseudo States
- Deep History Pseudo States
