Useful Functions of Astah
These functions are in both Astah Professional and Astah UML

Copy and Paste to Word and Excel (EMF format)
Copy and paste diagram images into Microsoft Offce(TM) documents as vector (SVG, EMF), JPEG and PNG formats ([Tool]-[Export Image]). Or, go to [Copy to Clipboard] popup menu on diagram elements.
Vector (SVG, EMF) format will stay clear as the original with resizing and modifying are available.

Hyperlinks
Set files (.txt, .asta, .xls, .doc..etc), URLs and other models in the project as the target for hyperlinks. For example, if you create a Mind Map as a sketch, create a Class Diagram based on it and set hyperlinks with both diagrams.
Eriksson-Penker Process Diagram
"Process" is supported in Activity Diagram. An information icon (parallelogram shaped icon) is displayed by setting a stereotype <<Information>> for Base Class of Object Node.
Auto-layout, Alignment, Size adjustment
Select diagram elements on the diagram and use the main menu or button on the tool palette to align/adjust size of elements. [Auto Layout] menus are also available in the main menu.
Printing Function Enhancement
The following detail options are available for printing.
- Print preview
- Set up of header, footer and logo... etc
- Print one diagram into multiple pages
- Set up print option per Diagram
- Set up print option per Project file

Jump to a Related Diagram
To jump from the Structure Tree to the related diagrams, select [All Related Diagrams] on model's pop-up menu. It shows all diagrams that the selected model used. Open the diagram and see where the model is located in the diagram. This function is very useful especially for large amount of models.
Jump to a Related Model in the Structure Tree
When you are working on diagram and want to know where the model belongs in the Structure Tree, select [Show in Structure Tree] on model's pop-up menu. The Structure Tree expands to show where the selected model is. This function is available in [Diagram]/[Search] tab in the Project View as well.
Add Related Classes
Add all related Classes with Associations, Generalizations, Realization, Dependencies and so on. To add related Classes, select [Add Related Classes] in the Class popup menu on the diagram.
Add Dependent Classes to a diagram
Add related classes to a Class diagram with one single operation. By selecting [Show Related Classes] on the pop-up menu of target class, all related classes and models will be added to the class in the a diagram automatically. This option enables you to generate Class diagrams more easily, especially with the [Auto Create Class Diagram] option.
Auto-Create Class Diagram
Auto-create a class diagram by [Auto Create Class Diagram/Detailed Class Diagram] using the popup menu on the structure tree. (Project, Package, Subsystem, Model, Class, etc.)
- Auto Create Class Diagram - Class Diagram is a simple class diagram without Attributes or Operations.
- Detailed Class Diagram - Detailed Class Diagram includes Attributes and Operations.
This feature enables you to generate Class Diagram fast and easy.

Font Setting
Set a default font for each project. Select [Set Font] from Project's pop-up menu in the structure tree and select your favorite font.

Customize Stereotype Icons (Astah Professional only)
Specify an image for each Stereotype (Customized Icon). By adding a Stereotype to model, the model element will be displayed as a specified image. This function enables you to create graphical display more easily.
